Redness, Flushing and Prominent Veins

Sun exposure, genetics and skin type are factors that cause dilated or visible blood vessels on the face. This leads to redness, flushing and prominent veins usually seen on the cheeks, sides of neck, ears and front of the chest.

Causes

Prominent thread veins are small superficial red, purple, or blue veins that can inhabit a small or large area of the skin. These appear most commonly on the face and legs and occasionally on the cheeks. Thread veins occur when the vein dilates and becomes large enough to be visible through the skin.
